UFN 22 Predictions

UFN 22 is on tonight and our resident MMA analyst Kris breaks down the main card and gives his thoughts on who is going to win.

Cole Miller vs Ross Pearson

A step up in competition for the TUF winner, Cole Miller is a very well rounded MMA artist with a lot of confidence in his hands as well as being well educated on the ground. I believe that he will have to use his ground game to make this fight go in his favour. However, I believe that Ross Pearson can use his footwork and stand up to keep this fight standing (for the majority of it) and grind out a kickboxing/clinch victory.

Ross Pearson via Decision.

Jim Miller vs Gleison Tibau

My candidate for fight of the night, Jim Miller has the heart of the warrior, well rounded and is always game. Gleison is HUGE for the division and has good wrestling, good ground and pound and good submissions. I think Tibau’s size is going to prove the decisive factor in this fight. Whether it’s controlling Miller on the ground or if he lands one of his heavy handed shots, I see victory at the end of the tunnel.

Tibau via decision.

Efrain Escudero vs Charles Oliveira

Oliveira is joining the UFC with a lot of hype behind him. Coming off an impressive submission victory in the 1st round of his UFC debut, he is slowly living up to the expectations placed on him. After winning TUF, Efrain has struggled to show his full potential in the Octagon. However, in his last fight he bounced back from a loss with an impressive performance. I think Efrain’s lack of focus and following game plan will be his down-fall  and I think he will get caught. He needs to come out strong, aggressive and keep the fight at his pace.

Charles Oliveira via submission 1st round

Nate Marquardt vs Rousimar Palhares

Nate is a still a top contender for the middleweight title. Closely behind Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen, Nate needs a decisive victory to stake his claim for a title shot. Heavy handed, a good kick boxer and black belt in BJJ, Nate is one of the highest rated fighters in the division. Palhares is a big, stocky BEAST, who uses his power to throw haymakers and drag his opponent to the ground. Leg locks, heel hooks and ankle locks make Palhares one of the most dangerous opponents in the middleweight division without a big name. I think the power and submission offense will catch Nate by surprise.

Rousimar Palhares via submission 2nd round
