Strikeforce: Henderson Vs Babalu II

On Saturday night we have the re-match between Dan Henderson and Renato Babalu Sobral at Strikeforce: St Louis. These two legends will step into the cage for a potential shot and Rafael Cavalcantes Light-Heavyweight title.

Here are MMA UK’s predictions for the main card.

Benji Radach Vs Ovince St. Preux

There’s been a lot of talk regarding St. Preux and how this could be his time to shine. He faces a veteren in Radach whose fought some quality fighters such as Sean Sherk, Gerald Harris and Chris Leben. I have my doubts about St. Preux though and I’m not sure if he has it in him to beat Radach whose fought some better opponents than him. I don’t think it’s going to be terribly exciting either.

Radach via Unanimous Decision

Antonio Silva Vs Mike Kyle

This is certainly going to be a tough fight for Kyle as he’s coming in as a late replacement for Valentijin Overeem. He has hadn’t much time to prepare and he’s fighting at a wait that he has fought in, in quite a while. Antonio Silva is in the hunt for the Strikeforce Heavyweight title and although this might not have been as good of a scalp as beating the champions brother, but a good performance here will definitely put him in contention. I think a lack of preparation for Kyle is going to be the key in this fight and Silva will take the win.

Antonio Silva via Submission/2nd round

Paul Daley Vs Scott Smith

This was is going to be a slugfest. Both of them love to knock their opponents out in ferocious fashion and have a throw caution to the wind attitude to fights. I definitely can’t see this fight lasting long and I wouldn’t be incredibly surprised if it ended in the first round. Smith has one of my favourite knockout of all time with his fantastic comeback KO against Pete Sell, however I feel that Daley has fought and beat a better calibre opponent than Smith and will probably be knocked out.

Daley Via TKO, 2nd round

Robbie Lawler Vs Matt Lindland

In my eyes, both of these fighters are fighting for relevancy. Lindland hasn’t been at his best for a number of years now and barely fights, whereas Lawler looked lethargic at best in his last fight against Babalu.  It’s going to be hard fight for both fighters, but I think that Lawler’s time has certainly past, and whilst Lindland isn’t exactly in the best form of his life, his ability to take opponents down will be a fantastic asset during this fight and will help get the win. Unless Lawler gets that KO punch that he depends on so much…

Lindland via Unanimous Decision

Renato Babalu Sobral Vs Dan Henderson

I think this is the perfect weight class for Dan Henderson as he’s increasing in age and cutting weight is going to become even more difficult. Sobral looked pretty good in his last fight, whilst Henderson looked fantastic in the first round of his fight with Jake Shields, until Shield’s ability to take him down and mount him continuously stopped Henderson from mounting any kind of offence. At least if Henderson doesn’t have to drop so much weight for this fight, his gas tank and power will last longer. I’m going to give this fight to Henderson, but it’s difficult to say how he’s going to win. He could win via KO or out-wrestle Sobral. Personally, I think he’s going to KO him.

Henderson Via KO, 2nd round
